G.I.R.L.S. Group

GIRLS In Real Life Situations

Facilitators: Mrs. Weaver and Ms. Akins

G.I.R.L.S. is a group of 8-10 female students who meets weekly with the School Social Worker and Guidance Counselor. Each semester a different grade level of young ladies are chosen for the group. We meet to address their self esteem, academics, and/or social concerns. These lovely young ladies are chosen by their teachers. The group meets for 45 minutes for eight weeks. We have true life discussions, create projects, perform self worth exercises, design a vision board and end our group with a fabulous Tea Party. The Tea Party is to honor the young ladies’ dedication, honesty and self image. Through our pretest and posttest results, as well as, our occasional check in with the young ladies, this G.I.R.L.S. Group has been beneficial to their academic achievement and self esteem.
